The Bio-Wars of the 1960's ended with both the NSDF and the CCA joining forces to defeat - what they were told - was their common enemy - The Furies. Armond Braddock, the NSDF's top bio-metal scientist, was accredited as having discovered the weakness of the Furies and was heralded as a hero. Taking advantage of the newly formed coalition and his political power, Braddock spearheaded the creation of the International Space Defense Force (ISDF); a top-secret military organization commissioned and funded by the nations aware of Bio-Metal after the war. Calling themselves the "Alliance of Awakened Nations" or the AAN, those nations would decide how Bio-Metal technologies and information were to be "equally divided" and trickled out to the other nations of the world. This would soon prove to be no easy task as greed for exclusive control of bio-metal created an atmosphere of mistrust among the nations of the AAN. Then, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, tensions mounted with the possibility of bio-metal technology falling into the hands of small, radical nations.

By 1995 Braddock, now Commander in Chief of the ISDF, had lost all patience with the petty bickering and "committee style" decision making of the AAN. At about this same time, Voyager 2, a probe actually designed by the ISDF, was discovering extremely rich bio-metal deposits near the outer edge of the solar system. Braddock kept the find quiet and secretly set up an ISDF outpost on Pluto to investigate and locate the source of the rich deposits. However, before the source was located, the Pluto base fell under attack and ISDF intelligence lost contact with both the base and Voyager 2.

Braddock was forced to go before the AAN and disclose the existence of the Pluto base. The AAN immediately ordered the ISDF fleet to locate the base and determine the cause of its mysterious disappearance. Now, for the first time in 30 years, an army of bio-metal war machines are secretly moving through earth's solar system and preparing to defend earth. Only this time, their enemy is unknown...
